"I'm a finance professional and Toastmasters President who helps women become more confident and credible through public speaking."

A woman who overcame cultural barriers and self-doubt to find success in finance shares her story and tips for other women who want to enter the field.

This is Urmi’s story…

I'm a finance professional, and I've always been good with numbers and math. I never thought about working in finance, though, until I moved to Canada and started taking some classes. I realized that I loved finance and I was really good at it. I decided to make it my major and I haven't looked back since.

I'm always looking for ways to grow and improve, so a few years ago I joined a Toastmasters club. Toastmasters has been a great way for me to overcome my fear of public speaking and become more confident. I'm now the President of my club and I'm working towards giving a Ted Talk.

I believe that public speaking is important for all women, as it makes us more confident and credible. I want to be a role model for other young women, showing them that it is possible to pursue a nontraditional career path and be successful.

Urmi is a Canadian finance professional who is passionate about self-growth and helping others. She volunteers with nonprofit organizations dedicated to women's empowerment and gender equality and is a member of Toastmasters International.

Her mantra is - some women fear the fire; some become it
