In the final early release to Season 4 I talk with Elaine Belson. I released this early because she is running for congress in Maryland which led to some enlightening discussions especially since we come from different political parties, but we have much more in common than we do not. When we grew up it was common to have discussions with other that had an opposing POV and both walk away better informed and still friends. Using her training in Psychology and social work, Elaine outlines that many time the polarizing political climate today is more of a result of us having an argument with our internal feelings that aren't being acknowledged. The story here is that in order to complete the hero's journey we have to embrace those with differing points of view if only to learn something that makes us better in the process. Elaine Belson has 30 years combined clinical, military, political and teaching experience. She obtained her bachelor's degree in Psychology in 1987 from the University of Maryland at College Park and her master's degree in Social Work in 1993 from the University of Maryland at Baltimore. Ms. Belson has worked in a variety of settings, including private practice, community agencies, and hospitals. She has also taught psychology at the college level and held several legislative positions. Ms. Belson served in the US Army as a Social Work Officer, including a deployment to Afghanistan, from 2008-2010. She was also the Executive Officer (XO) for the Medical Command in Afghanistan. Ms. Belson currently has her own private practice and serves on the School Safety Advisory Council for her county's Board of Education. https://anchor.fm/elaine-LCSWChttps://www.linkedin.com/in/elaine-belson-for-congress-232620226/https://twitter.com/ElaineBelson
