Sneakers that make an impact through social change is what Moe Hachem’s life’s work is all about. By upcycling and recycling sneakers, Sneaker Impact can promote the concept of their sustainability. Through recycling gently used running sneakers, the social enterprise is able to take action and prevent the shoes from ending up in landfills. In third-world countries, sneakers are used as a vehicle of transportation; they are a necessity. By reducing waste and creating economic impact, Sneaker Impact contributes to global health. From collecting sneakers at select marathons across the U.S. by offering biodegradable bags to recycle the sneakers, to bringing the enterprise’s mission to the public, Sneaker Impact is helping to create opportunities for people in need by creating jobs and promoting good health.
