3/7/21. As we Renew in homes on Sunday, March 7th, receive this teaching on Being Worshipers of the One True God (video posted on blog). Gathering plan included.

God the Father is seeking those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth. What does that mean? And how do we do that when gathered, and when scattered? Jesus tells us how to be worshipers of the one true God.

Worship plan

As we worship in homes and house churches on Sunday, together or scattered in the aftermath of a winter storm and power outages, here’s the guiding worship plan document (PDF document), which includes:

Question 46: What is the Lord’s Supper?

Kids response: Christ commanded all Christians to eat bread and to drink from the cup in thankful remembrance of him.

Full response: Christ commanded all Christians to eat bread and to drink from the cup in thankful remembrance of him and his death. The Lord’s Supper is a celebration of the presence of God in our midst; bringing us into communion with God and with one another; feeding and nourishing our souls. It also anticipates the day when we will eat and drink with Christ in his Father’s kingdom.

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 11:23–26

For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

A prayer: Bread of Life, we take the Lord’s Supper in reverent obedience. We do not want to receive it unworthily, so we come in repentance and faith. Help us to forgive the sins of those who have sinned against us, especially the believers with whom we share the bread and the cup. May our partaking of this meal proclaim your saving death and our desperate need of it. Amen.

Scripture reading: Romans 11:33–12:2
