In this brief episode, Dr. Shaw tackles the tricky subject of teaching our children to do the right thing FOR THE RIGHT REASONS.  Dr. Shaw is a big believer in intrinsic rewards as opposed to external rewards, and she examines what that means.  Schools and other systematic institutions often bestow prizes, rewards and other forms of recognition to children and to adults, and that can create a false motivation and an unrealistic expectation.  The real gift is to act out of truth and to recognize that the accomplishment itself is the real reward.
