In this brief episode Dr. Shaw examines a couple of fascinating subjects regarding how both children and adults handle some aspects of interpersonal relationships.  Dr. Shaw starts by talking about an issue that her granddaughter experienced, and that issue blossomed into a fruitful discussion about generosity of spirit and about the expectation that a friend may or may not value the same qualities in a relationship that you do.   The truly interesting part of this story is that Dr. Shaw, obviously decades the senior to her granddaughter, had a recent experience that was quite similar, and the mirroring of the two sets of experiences with friends led to several valuable lessons including lessons about knowing your audience, understanding that you must consider how a message might be heard differently than intended, and that age and maturity may not dispel all uncomfortable situations when it comes to interpersonal relations.
