Hockey refs, much like the athletes they ensure play within the rules, are a tough bunch. On today’s show we have one of the toughest and hardest working refs to ever lace up skates in the NHL, Kerry Fraser. Our guest this week, who retired in 2010 after a 30+ year career in the NHL where he reffed the most regular season games in league history, regales our hosts Kari Janisse and Mike Walsh with stories from his days on the ice, but also what made him the man he was then, and how he was blessed with a conversion in the mid-1990’s that brought him closer to God and into full communion in the Catholic faith. It’s a powerful conversation that speaks to the desire in all of us to find spiritual closeness with God, where it can come at any time, perhaps even on a drive along the Pennsylvania Turnpike as you’re heading to ref a game in Pittsburgh.
