Being a principal at a Catholic school is all about relationships. You must have a good relationship with your students, your families, your parish and, of course, your teachers. Our guests today, Joan Dollinger from Assumption Regional Catholic School, and Gerry Janasky from Resurrection Catholic School, know the importance of a good principal/teacher relationship. Joan was Gerry’s principal and mentor for 5 years at Assumption. As you will hear in the conversation, it was also Joan who inspired Gerry to pursue the principal position at Resurrection.

Throughout out this moving and genuine conversation, host Marianela Nunez and guest host Mike Bress ask about Gerry’s journey to becoming a principal and the role Joan played in her teaching career. We also discuss Gerry’s first 6 months at the helm, the importance of knowing your community and parish, and of course, how the Catholic identity of the principal and faculty play a huge role in the culture of the school. Marianela and Mike even sneak in a quick plug for Catholic Schools Week from Sunday, January 29 through Saturday, February 4.
