“We need to be there for them.”

Such were the sentiments of Steven Martin, a Vietnam War veteran, as he discussed the importance of welcoming fellow servicemen and women into the Catholic War Veterans Post 1578, based in Bridgeton.

Martin and Father Matthew Weber, chaplain of the Catholic War Veterans Post, Deacon Charles Dillin, Sam Pace and Albert Siedlecki talk about the Post, their military service, the power of camaraderie, and how they support their fellow veterans, especially in the area of mental health issues that many veterans face.

“One thing that is beautiful about our post is that we have veterans that are from as far back as World War II up until the 2020s,” said Father Weber, who is pastor of Bridgeton’s Holy Cross Parish.
