Welcome back people, to yet another fantastic episode of the Talkin' TV podcast!!!! So I said last week on my Avatar episodes top 10 that it would be the last bit of Avatar content on the channel. I lied. No was Korra going to get the same type of treatment as Avatar? Most certainly not. But that factor into the discussion we had today.  The thing is that when the Legend of Korra premiered on Nickelodeon in 2012, fans were almost ready to hate it. Avatar: The Last Airbender is a beloved show, to say the least, we only spent the better part of a month and a half talking about it. But then in comes Korra, which besides being a sequel, also showed that it was taking a drastic left turn when it came to the tonal direction. NOT TO MENTION, let's just say the internet is not always the biggest fan when the protagonist is a strong female character.  But the thing about the Legend of Korra is that it is a much different type of show. The creators of both shows, Michael Dante DiMartino & Brian Konietzko, understood that for this story to work, it had to remind audiences that this was still the same world, but that it had changed, and if there's one thing I've learned, it's that people HATE change in the things they love, even though it has to happen in order for new ideas to work. And so, today, with guest co-host Andrew Gyomai of the Talkin' Podcast with Chris and Andrew, we sat down to discuss the sequel series to Avatar, and how it may have been a sequel that no one wanted, but it was also the sequel we deserved. All of this and more on Talkin' TV!!!
