Bet you saw the title and thought this was about something else. 

Sorry to disappoint, but this is about cookies. Also it’s about complacency. It’s about what happens when you get so “comfortable” with a skillset you’ve “mastered” you take your foot off the gas. Stop pushing yourself. Stop reaching for excellence.

During holiday season many people shift into neutral, lulled into a state of hibernation by the extended run of holiday season. Suddenly WHAM it’s “a new year” and we’re expected to launch forward. 

So when a lesson was delivered by unexpected challenges in creating a batch of Peppermint Bark Cookies, I had to share. And as promised - here’s the link to the recipe.  In keeping with my Mom-Mom Frieda, this recipe isn’t precisely how I make them. I’ve modified it to reach my results. But stick with how this one is written and you won’t be disappointed. 

Worth noting - not all Peppermint Bark is created equal. My go-to choice is the peppermint oil infused dark chocolate magic sold every fall by Trader Joe’s.
