The Warm-Up
Jack Gill and Nate Fillers present this “Judgement Day” edition of Hardly Focused! This episode begins with breaking news, as actor Ed Asner passes on shortly before recording. Jack and Nate discuss the children’s film Up – one of Asner’s best-known roles – and how depressing the beginning is.
Elsewhere, while discussing other recent celebrity deaths, Jack mourns the loss of Eric Clapton’s career. Clapton is a known anti-vaxxer and COVID denouncer. Jack finds Clapton to be quite overrated.
Spencer Elden – “The Nevermind Baby” – Sues Nirvana
Jack and Nate discuss Spencer Elden, famous for gracing the cover of Nirvana’s “Nevermind” as a baby. Elden is suing Nirvana for “sexual exploitation,” despite seemingly being okay with the publicity until recently. Jack thinks Elden is trying to get money to fuel a habit or addiction, or pay off debts.
Discussing Elden leads Jack and Nate to talk about the conspiracy theories surrounding Kurt Cobain’s death.
Idiots Take Ivermectin as a COVID Treatment
It’s time for this podcast’s landmark segment, “How Fucking Dumb Are You?” Jack features a story from Texas, where intellectually challenged residents are ingesting horse de-wormer as a “treatment” for COVID-19. You know it’s bad when the FDA loses their composure on Twitter.
The Wrap-Up
Wrapping up this installment of Hardly Focused, Jack and Nate discuss the similarities between cults and organized religion. This stems from a story about a pastor who was buried alive, hoping to resurrect like Jesus Christ (spoilers: he straight up died.)
Jack also plays for Nate video of drumming prodigy Nandi Bushell playing “Everlong” aside the Foo Fighters.
