This episode’s guest is Mark Neuman, the founder and Chief Investments Officer for Constrained Capital. Mark has built an investing strategy around industry sectors that have been constrained and artificially starved for capital because of the rising popularity of ESG investing. 

This episode we discuss the recent trend of ESG investing and how difficult it is to come up with consistent metrics that define what ESG actually is. We talk about how the E, the S, and the G often have conflicting objectives and ultimately there is a lot of subjectivity involved in deciding the criteria what constitutes ESG. We dive into the hypocrisy around ESG and why often times many of the companies that are highly listed on these ESG indexes don’t actually help the environment or benefit us socially. 

Lastly, we discuss Mark’s investing strategy and how he thinks there is opportunity for deploying capital into industries that have been unfairly constrained by the ESG mafia.
