Twitch Streamer Average Harry Devastated After Being banned on Twitch

Average Harry has been going through a rough patch which started in October 2020. A video of Harry crying after being mocked by a bunch of strangers on live stream went viral. Since then, he has been steadily gaining a lot of followers. He applied to become a Twitch partner but his application was rejected when the streaming platform found out that Average Harry had created his account before he was 13 years old.

Twitch has been very strict with enforcing age-related policies and Average Harry broke those rules. Since then, it appears he has been permanently banned after Twitch noticed some discrepancies in his account details and age. Harry has been understandably agitated with this decision as he roughly had around 90,000 followers on his account.

OX - Do you think its fair for Twitch to retroactively enforce this rule? They have been glad to take money from his subs up until this point.

Madden streamer Buckkerz seen screaming at child, breaking controller

On Thursday night, a clip from Twitch streamer Buckkerz that showed him screaming at his young child after losing at a video game went viral.

In the clip, Buckkerz (whose legal name hasn't been confirmed by Insider) can be seen playing "Madden 21" with his toddler son on his lap. After having his in-game throw intercepted, the streamer yells "god dam---" as he throws his controller down, breaking it. "F---ing $300 f---ing controller" he yells as the young child screams on camera.

"I'm about to go before I lose it," he says, placing the child down in a chair before screaming directly in its face "shut the f--- up!"

His webcam then disappears and the stream cuts off.

For a brief period, after the clip had hit Reddit, Buckkerz changed his Twitch channel name to "Imsorry1234556" before the channel was taken offline. It is unclear if the account was removed by the streamer or if it was banned by Twitch. Twitch did not respond for comment by publication time.

Tighe- How should we as a community and Twitch itself deal with situations like this?

Forsen faces more Twitch drama as classic emotes removed - GENERAL - News

Soon after his return from a month-long ban, content creator Sebastian "Forsen" Fors is facing even more backlash on Twitch.

Forsen told viewers last night that some of his classic emotes were being removed because the streaming platform felt they were potentially offensive. The removed emotes include ForsenTake, ForsenA, ForsenBreak, and ForsenDED. When used together, the four emotes spell out "stop streaming" and hint that zero people are watching.

ForsenDED was possibly added so Forsen could annoy Byron "Reckful" Bernstein specifically. Reckful would often appear frustrated when his viewer count was lower than usual, so Forsen created the "zero viewership" emote just to mess with him. Reckful ended up banning the emote from his chat

Stump - It feels like this guy keeps coming up. Should we do something controversial to get some clout?

4. Microsoft Files Patent to Create Chatbots That Imitate Dead People

Microsoft has finally pierced the veil, the thin line between life and death. Sounds like a lot of hocus pocus but they have found a way to communicate with the dead.

From IGN

Microsoft has filed a patent that would allow the company to digitally revive deceased loved ones as chatbots, using the individual's personal information.

The Independent reports that the tech giant has raised the possibility of creating an AI-based chatbot that would be built upon the profile of a person, which includes their "images, voice data, social media posts, electronic messages," among other types of personal information. It's understood that the chatbot would then be able to simulate human conversation through voice commands and/or text chats.

Microsoft has taken the concept a step further by suggesting that a 2D or 3D model of a specific person could potentially be created, using "images and depth information, or video data" of an individual in order to build a chatbot that has the same characteristics and behaviour based on the digital output of a specific person.

OX - Should Microsoft be playing God and creating personalities from others data?

5.  Animal Crossing is getting an official makeup line

In our first story, You can now wear the Nook Look. Animal crossing themed makeup is on the way.

From the verge -

Nintendo has announced that it’s collaborating with cosmetics brand ColourPop on a makeup collection inspired by Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The collection looks to be relatively extensive, including four powder palettes that are themed after characters in the game. Obviously, Isabelle is fabulous enough that she doesn’t have to share with anyone and gets her own.

ColourPop is no stranger to pop culture collaborations. It has lines inspired by Disney princesses, The Mandalorian, and even Sailor Moon. The Animal Crossing venture won’t even be the first collab it’s done with a gaming brand, as there’s also a Candy Land x ColourPop line.

The makeup collection will launch on January 28th. Hopefully it doesn’t have the stock issues that have plagued Nintendo recently.

Tighe - Are we missing out here by not having a ToC makeup line? It seems like maybe this is a case of putting a brand on everything and anything.

6. Snapchat Adds Public View Counts to its TikTok-Like 'Spotlight' Feed

Last night on the podcast we spoke about instagram bringing back like counts and their implication on the platform. Well now another social media company is heading down that path as well.

From the piece -

Snapchat has taken another step towards making its TikTok-like 'Spotlight' feed more similar to TikTok, by adding public view counts on Spotlight clips.

The view count is displayed at the lower left of screen, providing more context as to each video's popularity.

But It's not exactly the same. On TikTok, the view count is displayed on the video thumbnail, not on the playback overlay itself. But clearly, Snap is looking to replicate the same display options where it can

For Snapchat, it's hard to tell whether its Spotlight feed, which it added back in November, will end up being a winner for the app. Snapchat remains hugely popular with younger users, and is a key connection tool for many in that cohort. But chasing trends has never been Snapchat's thing - in fact, it was the one making the trends up till now.

Stump - What are your thoughts on this? How do you feel seeing the numbers truly affects people? <Note: We saw last week that some social media companies are bringing the counts back but haven't released their findings on its affect>

7. AEW Star Jokingly Says Undertaker “Needs To Be Put In Jail”

The Undertaker made a stop on the podcast circuit and spoke with Joe Rogan. This conversation, as is normal w Rogan's show, did not end without its own share of controversy.

Former WWE star and trainer Tom Prichard, who wrote that “wrestlers, rasslers and ‘play rasslers'” should pay close attention to Taker’s comments on Rogan’s podcast.

Prichard wrote, “Required listening for wrestlers, rasslers and ‘play rasslers’: The Joe Rogan Experience #1598 Listen… Really LISTEN. Toxic? Really?!”

In his response to Prichard, Trent wrote, “bad take. the undertaker needs to be put in jail.”

A little later, Trent confirmed he was being sarcastic.

Over the past few days, Twitter has responded strongly to Taker’s comments about the current WWE product being “a little soft” and modern pro wrestlers being more interested in “playing video games and f**king making sure they look pretty.” It’s why Prichard wrote “Toxic?” in his tweet and wondered why Taker was receiving backlash for his comments.

OX - How do you feel about the backlash against Taker? Is he right about the current generation being soft?

8. Game of Thrones Prequel "Tales of Dunk and Egg" Series Reportedly in Development at HBO

Get ready to only hear about the latest episode of game of thrones again. A prequel series appears to be on the way

From the piece

HBO is developing an adaptation of “Tales of Dunk and Egg,” a Game of Thrones prequel novel, Variety reports.

The prequel series follows Ser Duncan the Tall (the titular Dunk) and Aegon V Targaryen (Egg) 90 years prior to the events of Game of Thrones.

Variety reports that no cast or crew have been hired onto the project yet, but Variety’s sources say the series is a high priority for HBO in the wake of Game of Thrones’ colossal success. Variety also reports that the series will be a standard hour-long format program. HBO is also currently readying “House of the Dragon,” another prequel series which explores the Targaryen family 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones, expected to debut in 2022.

Tighe - Are you going to jump in on these prequels or have you had enough?

9. Liam Neeson Has Been Approached To Star In A Naked Gun Reboot

Normally when I hear about a classic being rebooted I cringe. When I hear the buzz about the actors I am usually not impressed. But I will say this here and now I actually think this could be fun. Liam Neeson has been approached to star in a naked Gun reboot

From Game rant

Liam Neeson recently announced his plans to retire from action movies within the next couple of years, so People asked him where his career could go after he leaves the genre behind. Apparently, a switch to comedy could be on the horizon, as the Taken actor confirmed that he’s been approached by Paramount Pictures and Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane about starring in a Naked Gun reboot.

This isn’t the first time that the possibility of a Naked Gun reboot has floated around Hollywood. In 2013 and 2017 reboots fell through along with a script for a 4th in the series

It’s unclear if the potential Neeson-starring Naked Gun reboot would tie into the continuity of the earlier movies or completely reboot the franchise, or if Neeson would play the original trilogy’s inept hero Frank Drebin or a new character.

Stump - Have they ruined enough classics and will now make something worthwhile or will this flop?
