Streaming News

Random streamers become one of the biggest Twitch channels overnight

A strange Twitch account has rocketed up the followers standings after gaining nearly 5 million followers in one evening – with a few notable names following the channel in question.
The channel in question, aileybeanssa, was set up back in 2018. so it’s not like the casino channels that are set up hours before gaining the followers.
They have streamed pretty consistently too, gaining a few thousand followers before the explosion but on September 19, the channel jumped from 5,000 followers to 22,000 according to TwitchMetrics.
A day later, that number exploded to 4.63 million and risen to 4.64 million in the days following. The two girls behind the channel confirmed that they were botted and have tried to get in contact with Twitch. Though, it appears as if that has fallen on deaf ears.

Red_Foxx - We have seen twitch take action in the past against bots but in cases like this they tend to be unresponsive to cries for help. What do you think Twitch can do to better support their affiliate/partner streamers w bans/botting etc?

Forsen explains why he doesn't try to be a successful Twitch streamer

Popular content creator Sebastian ‘Forsen’ Fors has revealed why he does not focus on trying to grow his Twitch channel anymore when broadcasting to his viewers.
He revealed that he no longer tries to become more successful at streaming, explaining that he now has a more laid-back approach.
“Why? Because it’s unfulfilling,” he explained. "This kind of job is unfulfilling when you try to succeed at it, you’re better off doing what you want.”
Forsen followed up by explaining that there was much more freedom to streaming without focusing on what will grow his channel, such as collaborating with other creators and playing the most popular games.
He added that there was also less pressure with his approach to streaming, explaining that he was his own boss, “No one is your boss, your viewer count is not your boss, your sponsors are not your boss, your viewers, especially, aren’t your boss.”

Tighe - What is your take on this as someone who enjoys working on your channel?

Twitch streamer robbed live during IRL broadcast

Twitch streamer 'HoshmandPlays' was broadcasting live while riding his bike in the Bronx area of New York City when an unknown assailant on a moped stopped and proceeded to rob him.
on September 18 to Twitch streamer HoshmandPlays. While riding his bike in New York, a man on a moped stopped him and proceeded to shake him down for his belongings, leaving both he and his viewers in shock at what had just happened.
a man on a moped stopped Hoshmand and started asking him inaudible questions, before stating, "I can take all your s**t...Do you know who I am, bro?...I'll punch you."
"I'm not gonna do that. I don't know what you want," the 17-year-old stated as he began to back away, to which the assailant responded, "All jokes aside though, I ain't even playing. Do you know who I am, bro? Real s**t though, the big guns, bro. Stop playing with me, bro."

Stump - As we have seen in the past irl streams can tend to get out of hand. With things like this happening do you think it will discourage irl streams?

Gaming News

Doom Eternal is the first game to arrive on Xbox Game Pass following Microsoft’s acquisition of ZeniMax

Following a teaser from the Xbox Game Pass team yesterday, Microsoft has announced that Doom Eternal is heading to the company’s gaming subscription service. The 2020 sequel to the fantastic 2016 reboot will arrive on Xbox Game Pass for consoles on October 1st and will launch on Game Pass for PC later this year
It’s the first game to arrive on Xbox Game Pass from ZeniMax Media, which Microsoft announced it was acquiring earlier this week. ZeniMax is the parent company for several high-profile gaming studios, including Bethesda and id Software, Doom’s developer. The deal will not finalize until 2021.
Now that Microsoft owns all these gaming IPs, it makes sense that games not already on the service will eventually make their way to both platforms. Xbox head Phil Spencer confirmed that particular detail, noting in a blog post that the company “will be adding Bethesda’s iconic franchises to Xbox Game Pass for console and PC.” Microsoft also confirmed that future Bethesda titles would release on Game Pass the same day they launch on Xbox or PC.

Foxx - This acquisition is big news for xbox fans and anyone who subs to game pass. What sort of effect do you think it will have on the sales between MS and Sony?

Amazon announces new cloud gaming service called Luna

At its 2020 hardware event today, Amazon announced a cloud gaming platform called Luna. The news isn’t too surprising: the service has been rumored since last year, previously codenamed “Tempo,” while an Amazon-made game controller leaked out just ahead of today’s event.
The service will be available for an “introductory price” of $5.99 a month during its early access phase, which gives subscribers the ability to play Luna Plus channel games across two devices simultaneously and offers 4K / 60fps resolution for “select titles.”
Players who subscribe to this channel will have access to their favorite Ubisoft titles in up to 4K resolution, mobile gameplay, and access to new titles when the channel launches like Assassins Creed Valhalla, Far Cry 6, and Immortals Fenyx Rising the same day they release. This is the first of multiple Luna game channels in development.
Luna will also feature Twitch integration. “Inside the Luna experience, players will see Twitch streams for games in the service, and from Twitch, they’ll be able to instantly start playing Luna games,” Amazon says. Games can be played either with a mouse and keyboard or a Bluetooth controller. To go along with this, Amazon also announced its own Alexa-enabled Luna Controller, which will cost $49.99 during the early access period.

Tighe - Here we have yet another game store entering the fold. How is someone supposed to keep up with all these subs?

Amazon Warns Xbox Series X Pre-Orders May Not Arrive on Time

When PlayStation 5 pre-orders went live, gamers made a mad dash to sites like Amazon to pre-order Sony's next-generation console. Not long after, Amazon warned that PS5 pre-orders may be delayed and not arrive on the November 12 launch day as expected. Now Amazon has sent out a similar warning in regards to the Xbox Series X, meaning some consumers, even with their pre-orders secured, may still have to wait a little longer than expected to play their next-generation console.
Anyone that has pre-ordered a video game console through Amazon in the past will know that this is nothing new. But it doesn't necessarily mean that they won't get their Xbox Series X console on launch day. This message is more or less just a way for Amazon to cover its bases in case there are issues getting anyone their pre-ordered console.
On a side note -  interestingly enough XBOX one series X sales spiked due to peoples inability to read or comprehend during their pre-orders which this host finds hilarious.

Stump - Are you surprised to see demand outpacing supply already early on in this new gen console war?

Entertainment News

Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury will reportedly return in new Disney Plus series

Samuel L. Jackson is reportedly returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe — but this time, he’ll be taking on a starring role in a new Nick Fury TV series for Disney Plus.
Details are slim on the project — reported by both Variety and Deadline — which is still in the early stages and has yet to be formally ordered to series. Kyle Bradstreet, best known for his work as a writer for Mr. Robot, is also said to be on board the project as a writer and executive producer.
Jackson has played the role of the leader of super-spy agency SHIELD in the MCU films since the original Iron Man was released in 2008. Appearances by Jackson as Fury have been a key part of the connective tissue between the various films in the expansive film franchise, with Jackson’s appearances used to bring characters together or tease upcoming movies in post-credit scenes. The new Disney Plus series would mark the first time that Jackson has filled the lead role for a Marvel series and could see the actor play a similar role in tying together the various TV series planned for the service.

Red_Foxx - What does Marcellus Wallace look like? Lol What's your take on this new show?

Twitter Asking Users to Read the Article Before Retweeting

Twitter has announced plans (which we heard about at Mashable) to expand a pilot program it launched with select users back in July. It’s a small approach and trying to curb a major problem. Before someone can retweet an article, a prompt will appear asking the user if they have in fact read the article they are about to re-share with their followers.
At first this might sound like a silly method. But the stats Twitter shared from the test run of the program show it did make a difference. It altered, for the better, the actions of a significant percentage of users.

- 40% more people opened the article after seeing the prompt

-33% more opened their article before retweeting it

-some people didn’t share it at all after reading the article

I find the last point interesting because I wonder how many just didn't bother because of the extra step not because of the content.

Tighe - What do you think this is a good or bad step against FAKE NEWS?

Pizza Mascot Chuck E. Cheese Jumping to Movies and Cartoons

For over forty years, the Chuck E. Cheese’s pizza parlors have entertained rowdy and hungry kids all over America. The combination of pizza, ice cream, video games, and singing animatronics in a kid-centric restaurant chain was a genius mash-up. And it was the brainchild of Atari co-founder Nolan Bushnell. Although good ol’ Chuck isn’t quite as ubiquitous a rodent as Mickey Mouse, we’d wager most American kids are very familiar with him.
Now, they may be about to become even more familiar, as Chuck E. Cheese is getting ready to star in both live-action movies and animated TV shows.

Stump - This seems like a smart move since I am sure Chuck has been affected heavily by the Rona don't you think?
