1. Twitch Has Become a Haven for Live Sports Piracy

a. During the Dec 21 Liverpool match, 90,000 fans plus were watching on twitch.
b. During that time 3 of the top 10 live streams were showing the game with 14k, 33k, and 53k viewers respectively.
c. Twitch has recently been sued buy a Russian television provider over the streaming of English premier league matches. Online streaming piracy of sports programming seems to be a growing issue.

a. 'tehsyntax' went live on Twitch, with his stream titled "Kicking a freeloader out of my apartment. Not clickbait shes on her way here now from work."
b. Shortly after she arrived the streamer told her he would be taking his space back and asked her to leave immediately.
c. He explained he hadn’t had a roommate in years and was not a fan of it then.
d. As for why he streamed the eviction, he explained in a chat comment, "I let a friend crash at my place for free but she thinks she owns the f**king place. She also locked me out of my own apartment and fed my dog popcorn making him very sick. Wanted to record this for the record so she [doesn't] claim some crazy sh*t but figured [why] not stream it."
Twitch has guidelines about privacy, do you feel like because it was his house this violated her privacy?
3. Fake Gil Fake Gambling

a. The Twitch channel FFTBattleground has set up tournaments of AI bots playing Final Fantasy Tactics against one another that viewers can bet fake Gs on. Similar to other bot-run channels on Twitch, and specifically modeled after SaltyBet where viewers use fake currency to bet on fighting game matches, there are a ton of chat commands you can use to interact with the tournament.
b. To start with, you’ll have 1000 Gil in your pocket to bet. You’ll want to turn that thousand into more by placing bets on a team and earn XP by aligning yourself with a winning group.

4. Sony Skips E3 again

a. For the second year in a row Sony has opted out of making a presence at e3 sort of leaving everyone scratching their heads.
b. Sony Interactive Entertainment declined to comment further beyond its initial statement that it has "great respect for the [Entertainment Software Association]," which organizes and presents the annual E3 convention and cited their "vision" as the determining factor for dropping out for a second year
c. Sony also noted it would participate in "hundreds of consumer [separate] events across the globe" in 2020.
Does Sony’s absence represent something big on the horizon for them or does this signal a mistake that could be capitalized on by Microsoft and Nintendo?
5. How Microsoft's next Xbox plans to end the console wars with Sony https://www.businessinsider.com/playstation-xbox-console-wars-end-microsoft-sony-2020-1
a. This holiday season, both Microsoft and Sony are planning to launch next-generation game consoles: the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5, respectively.
b. Though the two consoles compete directly, Microsoft is intentionally moving its Xbox business away from direct competition with Sony.
c. Instead of focusing on the new Xbox console as a replacement for the current one, as Microsoft and Sony have done in the past, Microsoft is making a different play: a digital game library that works across Xbox devices.
What do you think of Microsoft strategy overall in moving the industry in such a different direction? Will they find a better niche in not trying to go head to head with the PS5?

c. Its no wonder these games get pushed out yearly

7. Writer’s Strike looms
a. More than a decade after writers shut down Hollywood, studios and networks are once again preparing for another potential walkout that could disrupt Southern California’s highest profile industry. 2007
b. Then, Hollywood was just entering a digital revolution that would upend old distribution models, with Netflix just starting its pivot from DVD to the internet and Hulu going live as the strike ended.
c. As a content consumer I would be disappointed to see this happen but as a creator I would love to seize the opportunity.
8. Disney Drops Fox Name

a. Disney closed a $71 billion deal to acquire Fox Searchlight and 20th Century Fox last year. However, Fox itself has still retained some independence with Fox Entertainment, Fox Sports, and Fox News, but they do not fall under the Disney umbrella.
b. In an effort to separate the two entities, Disney will rebrand 20th Century Fox as 20th Century Studios. It will also rebrand Fox Searchlight as Searchlight Pictures
c. It’s unknown so far if any other significant changes will be made to the iconic logo and sound. With Disney and Fox continuing to argue over the rights to Spider-man.
9. New Recruits to the Resistance

a. According to a report from THR, Taika Waititi, of Thor directorial renown, has been approached by Disney to develop a Star Wars film. The THR article later goes on to state that not much else is known regarding how far along Disney and Waititi have gotten in these discussions.
b. Waititi isn’t the only Marvel alum to be approached for a Star Wars film. Back in September, it was revealed that Marvel Chief Creative Officer and MCU mastermind Kevin Feige would bring his talents to the Star Wars franchise for a new movie
