Twitch staff accused of tricking streamer into promoting brands

Twitch streamers are speaking out against the broadcasting platform for attempting to promote brands within individual chats. Content creators are slamming the practice, especially since they have no control of removing the adverts from their channel.
“Creators beware! Twitch staff is now going around donating spare change in an attempt to trick you into shouting out brands without proper compensation. Don’t fall for it,” The Black Hokage said.
Twitch partner and viral streamer ‘negaoryx’ responded: “Which is great, because we can’t moderate anything said by Twitch staff in chat, so we can’t even purge it… great…”
There is a function that lets people ‘/Clear’ their channels messaging log, which lets “broadcasters and chat moderators to completely wipe the previous chat history.” This feature doesn’t apply to messages from Twitch staff accounts.

Ghost - Do you think this is a twitch strategy or a rogue employee?

Twitch seems to have picked up most of Mixer’s streamers

Streamers seem to have flocked to Twitch from Mixer after the Microsoft-owned live-streaming service announced plans to shut down in June. A new report shows that Twitch’s share of hours broadcast on major live-streaming platforms jumped up by over 14 percentage points this quarter, taking away the nearly identical just over 14 percent market share that Mixer previously held.
That Twitch won out is particularly notable because Facebook made a serious effort to pick up Mixer’s streamers. It partnered with Mixer to help streamers get set up on the new platform, and Mixer started advertising Facebook Gaming during its final month online. Mixer’s website still forwards to Facebook Gaming today. Evidently, that wasn’t enough to convince Mixer streamers to pick yet another underdog in the streaming space.
“Hours streamed” is a useful metric for determining where streamers are spending their time, but it’s not necessarily the metric that matters. These platforms are primarily competing for viewership, and in that area, Twitch actually lost some ground. The report now puts Twitch at 63.6 percent market share, down from 67.6 percent. That should be particularly concerning because both YouTube and Facebook Gaming grew this quarter; Mixer made up only 1.4 percent of hours streamed, so these services are growing at a faster pace than Twitch.

Tighe - Why do you think the closing of mixer is benefitting twitch more than the promoted facebook gaming?

Twitch streamer Erobb mortified after being sent poop from viewer

Streaming is one of the most interactive forms of entertainment, as viewers can influence their favorite content creator’s experience live during a broadcast.
However, this format is also extremely attractive to devious viewers looking to troll streamers in front of their audience. That is what happened to ‘erobb221’ when he was sent a bag of poop.
The Twitch personality sank into his chair and put his hand over his face after holding the disgusting fanmail. His partner told him, “I’m going to the post office and closing the PO box tomorrow!” before scolding the troll who sent it. “We have a baby who could get sick from your dirty poop in a bag!”
Erobb’s viewers continued to tell him to open the item up to see what it smelled like. “I’m not opening this bag, Brittany! I’m not.” Later on, he told his audience that he refused to open the bag because he does not “condone” the prank.

Dainty - Could we market poop in a bag?

Amazon has canceled Crucible, its free-to-play multiplayer shooter that had already been returned to closed beta
Amazon has officially canceled Crucible, its free-to-play multiplayer shooter. It’s the end of a rocky journey for the game, which was first launched in May after years in development before being put back into closed beta in July.

“We very much appreciate the way that our fans have rallied around our efforts, and we’ve loved seeing your responses to the changes we’ve made over the last few months, but ultimately we didn’t see a healthy, sustainable future ahead [for] Crucible,” the Crucible team said in a blog post.
If you’re in the closed beta, you’ll still be able to play the game in some form for a short while. The developers will be hosting a “a final playtest and community celebration” in the next few weeks, according to the blog. Once that’s done, matchmaking will be disabled, but you’ll be able to play custom games (which are expected to be available in the coming days) until 3PM ET on November 9th.

Ghost - What do you think this says about the state of the Amazon titles if they are shutting this game down almost immediately?

Epic judge permanently restrains Apple from blocking Unreal Engine, but won’t force Fortnite

Fortnite won’t be coming back to the App Store any time soon. On Friday, Judge Yvonne Gonzales Rogers refused to grant Epic Games a preliminary injunction against Apple that would force the game developer to reinstate Fortnite on the App Store, while simultaneously granting an injunction that keeps Apple from retaliating against the Unreal Engine, which Epic also owns (PDF). In other words, we now have a permanent version of the temporary restraining order ruling from last month.
Today’s decision still prevents Apple from revoking Epic’s developer tools in a way that could have harmed its broader business.
“Epic Games and Apple are at liberty to litigate this action for the future of the digital frontier, but their dispute should not create havoc to bystanders. Thus, the public interest weighs overwhelmingly in favor of Unreal Engine and the Epic Affiliates,” said the judge, keeping Epic’s Unreal Engine business from being harmed.

Tighe - In this latest development we are seeing a balanced approach by the judge. How do you feel this plays out?

Sony Confirms PS4 to PS5 Save Transfers, Reveals Incompatible PS4 Games

In a new PlayStation blog post, Sony has elaborated on the upcoming PS4/PS5 compatibility features. As revealed in the Support Page, save data can be transferred from PS4 to PS5, but it will be a developer decision.
Cloud saves are also available for PS Plus members, and PS5 customers will find that their digital library will transfer once accounts are synched.
Streaming PS4 games to PS5 or PS Now will also be available, but will not benefit from a performance boost some PS4 titles will get when played natively on the PS5.
On another note Sony is also discontinuing store support for older systems.

Dainty - How do you feel about this backwards compatibility issue?

‘Green Lantern’ Series Gets Greenlight at HBO Max, Seth Grahame-Smith and Marc Guggenheim to Write

HBO Max has given out a series order to “Green Lantern,” Variety has learned.
Based on the DC Comics property, the show was first announced as being in development last year. Plot details are now available for the first time, however. The show will depict the adventures of a multitude of Lanterns, including Guy Gardner, Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz and Alan Scott — Earth’s first Green Lantern,  and many more. The series will also include fan favorites such as Sinestro and Kilowog, and will also introduce new heroes to the ranks of the Green Lantern Corps.
HBO Max has ordered 10 one-hour episodes. The series will be co-written and executive produced by Seth Grahame-Smith and Marc Guggenheim, with Grahame-Smith serving as showrunner. Berlanti Productions will produce in association with Warner Bros. Television, where Berlanti is under a rich overall deal. Guggenheim has taken part in many dc properties including show runner on ARROW.

Ghost - Were you a fan of the arrowverse on CW? I am excited to see dc take another run at GL since the Ryan reynolds

Netflix is testing a feature that lets you switch off its annoying "still watching?" pop-up

Netflix is testing a feature that I am referring to as a “sick day function” — an option to turn off that pesky pop-up that appears after watching three episodes in a row of something to ask if you’re still watching.
The new feature looks like it’s been in testing for a while in certain regions, and a Netflix spokesperson confirmed to The Verge today that the feature is still in testing mode. Over the recent weeks, however, excitement over the feature has hit Twitter and TikTok. It is exciting! A box appears that asks if you’re still watching or if you want to “play without asking again.” Hypothetically, if you’re in the middle of rewatching Supernatural and don’t want Netflix to interrupt you every three episodes, hitting “play without asking again” will allow you to binge to your heart’s content.

Tighe - I often feel personally attacked by Netflix for this feature. How do you feel about it going away?

Kingdom Come: Deliverance Being Developed as Live-Action Series or Film

Variety reports that the project will be a collaboration between Warhorse Studios and Wild Sheep Content, with Barmack and Warhorse CEO Martin Frývaldský producing the adaptation, which will take the form of either a live-action series or film. Barmack and Frývaldský are said to be in the process of reaching out to potential writers and directors to expand the creative team.
Barmack spoke about the adaptable nature of video game properties and the ways in which they can deliver "amazing, non-U.S. worlds that are locally relevant, but with a regional and global popularity that streamers are looking for as they become more and more global."
"It's especially interesting that video games with heavy narrative, like The Witcher and Kingdom Come: Deliverance, are uniquely adaptable, and local but global all at once," Barmack said, referencing Kingdom Come: Deliverance, which was developed by Warhorse Studios and published by Deep Silver for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The Kingdom Come: Deliverance adaptation joins a growing slate of video game movies and TV series' that have been announced, planned, or are currently in production right now, including Amazon's Fallout TV series, Netflix's Cyberpunk 2077 anime, and Sega's live-action Yakuza movie, which is being produced by Erik Barmack, Roberto Grande and Joshua Long.

Dainty - I really enjoyed the beginning of this game that I got to play. They went to painstaking lengths to make it historically accurate. How do you think this will transfer to the small screen?

BOLD PREDICTIONS

1. Party Animals will be the next Fall Guys on full Release

2. The delay of The Batman will help it's box office open while the delay of Dune will cause it to flop.

3. Soundtrack will launch the careers of several artists in the Electro Pop and House genres.
