Shana sat down recently with Dr. Michael Davis. Davis is an atmospheric scientist and associate professor at Kutztown University (KU) with interests in physical geography, meteorology, and climatology.

While his training is in the atmospheric sciences and climate modeling, Davis has recently diverged into geographical education through gaming. He would self-identify as a mix of a physical geographer-atmospheric scientist-geography gamer.

He enjoys researching in the atmospheric sciences and eclectic geography subjects and takes great joy in teaching students about the wonders within the realm of atmospheric sciences and geography. In fact, while Shana was an undergraduate student at KU, Dr. Davis was her academic and research advisor. Together they looked at how climate change plays a direct role in the production of cotton in the state of Texas.

In this episode, Shana and Dr. Davis talk in length on everything climate change. Together they digest what really is anthropogenic climate change and what that looks like for us here in Pennsylvania. They also talk about dangerous practices like hydraulic fracturing or fracking and how it plays a role in our changing climate. Davis and Shana also discuss the necessary need for green policy and regulations to prevent climate change from intensifying at the state, federal, and international levels. They also spent time discussing Vice President Joe Biden’s recently proposed climate plan.
