Sasha Vasilyuk is a journalist, and author of a compelling new book entitled "Your Presence is Mandatory." This work of historical fiction takes us to Russia, Germany, and Ukraine from the time of WWII to the present, giving us important insights into the history of the people, and more context for today's wars. Sasha was born in the Soviet Crimea, her childhood split between Ukraine and Russia before immigrating to San Francisco at the age of 13. She therefore has an authentic space from which to share this story. She has a MA in Journalism from New York University, and her nonfiction has been published in The New York Times, Harper’s Bazaar, BBC, The Telegraph, Narrative, USA Today, Los Angeles Times, and elsewhere.
