#97 Beverly Lynn Smith

Two weeks before Christmas, 1974. Someone walked into the home of young Doug and Beverly Smith and shot Beverly in the back of the head, killing her in cold blood.

The couple's 10 month old baby, Rebecca, was in a crib in the next room. Beverly’s case was Durham police departments first, and now its oldest, unsolved murder.

Two people confessed to the murder, numerous were suspected, and one was even charged then acquitted. All this and we are still not any closer to knowing who really killed Beverly Lynn Smith.
