As with most of Ricky Gervais' work, Afterlife season 3 is a schizophrenic mix of beautifully observed humanity ... and toilet humour.
I loved it and hated it in equal measure. There there are whole scenes (and characters) I'd happily never hear from again, but the point is this... When you are as good at the fundamentals as Ricky Gervais, you open up some serious options to try things out.
In this case, I think that large parts of Afterlife are just a massive fucking joke played on Netflix and the rest of us. How far can we be pushed and keep watching?
Quite far, as it turns out.
