In the premiere episode of Stories From The Furnace, a companion to the new Australian feature film, The Furnace, Osamah Sami meets the film’s writer-director Roderick MacKay, and Godfrey Simpson, a Wajarri Badimaya man, who was the film’s language consultant. Roderick recalls how first discovered the hidden history of Australia’s cameleers, and what gave him the confidence to do justice to their stories. Osamah then meets Godfrey Simpson, who reflects on his own deep connection to his Badimaya ancesters, and his mission to reawaken their sleeping language on screen. Stories From The Furnace is an SBS production in association with Umbrella Entertainment.
