Brian McConnell has experienced trauma throughout his life and in this episode he explains how it has shaped him.

He talks candidly about growing up in the south and the difficulty in his youth with understanding racism and religion. Navigating life in his early years was difficult as he saw different behavioral challenges within his own family unit.

After high school he chose to enter the military, this experience proved to bring about more trauma which he would struggle with for some time. Brian would fight depression and suicidal thoughts for years to come until a friend had the courage to get involved. This interaction encouraged him to seek help from a professional. He has been working on himself ever since.
Brian is a father now and is helping his own family navigate the difficulties that life brings. He is thankful that he got help, now he is equipped to assist others in the process of opening up and being vulnerable.
