Hamilton’s “Virtually” Sidewalk Sounds Announces Online Summer Concert Series

The sixth edition of Hamilton’s Sidewalk Sounds concert series will run online from May 15 until September18. Rebranded as “Virtually” Sidewalk Sounds for the online shows, this year’s lineup will spotlight top music, dance and drags acts from Hamilton and the surrounding area over the course of 10 free events.

Sidewalk Sounds was founded in 2016 by the Concession Street BIA. In pre-pandemic times, the annual summer concert series took place onseveral different outdoor stages along Hamilton’sConcession Street, one of the city’s oldest commercial districts. Last summer’s event was held virtually to keep everyone safe during the COVID-19 pandemic and 2021’s will be too.

“Virtually” Sidewalk Sounds takes place on the third Saturday of each month from May 15 until September 18. All of the “Virtually” Sidewalk Sounds will feature performances filmed inside Concession Street’s historic Zoetic Theatre that will be streamed at 3 pm and 7 pm Eastern Time on the Concession Street BIA’s Facebook and Instagram pages.

Chart-topping singer-songwriter Logan Staats and award-winning beatboxer Hachey the MouthPEACE will kick-off “Virtually” Sidewalk Sounds on May 15. June 19 will showcase Americana singer-songwriterHeather Valley and British hip-hop act LTtheMonk. July 17 features DJ Fazooli followed by award-winning dancers Josh Taylor (hip-hop/street), Angela Josephine (bellydance) and Eshe (bellydance) along with drag queen Karma Kameleon.Syrian PalestinianMC Mother Tarekawill get things started on August 21 before Yalla Baladi (bellydance), Nimmi(bellydance), Ensemble Topaz (Afghan, Iranian and Central Asian traditional and contemporary music and dance) and drag queenSapphyre Poisontake to the stage. Bluegrass trio Chopped Liver and the rock and soul stylings of Laura Cole will close out 2021’s “Virtually” Sidewalk Sounds on September 18.

“Sidewalk Sounds was created to bring everyone together and showcase all of the amazing things that Concession Street has to offer,” said Cristina Geissler, Executive Director of the Concession Street BIA. “Although things are obviously very different right now because of the pandemic, it’s still important for us to bring people together and support the arts community – which is why we’re presenting this summer’s concert series online. Our 2021 ‘Virtually’ Sidewalk Sounds lineup boasts a diverse and exciting range of styles from some of the city’s most talented artists. We can’t wait to welcome everyone virtually to the Zoetic Theatre to enjoy all of the entertaining music, dance and drag performances that we have to share.”
