Kirk Hamilton interviews Dr. Joe D. Goldstrich who graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1964 and then trained as an internist, a cardiologist and later as a nutritionist and clinical lipidologist (cholesterol specialist). Early in Dr. Goldstrich's career he worked as the National Director of Education and Community Programs for the American Heart Association in Dallas, Texas. He also was the medical director of the Pritikin Longevity Center in California, working with nutrition pioneer Nathan Pritikin. He has written five books on nutrition and worked as the medical director of a major nutritional supplement manufacturer where he designed evidence-based nutritional supplements. Dr. Goldstrich utilizes a combination of diet, nutritional supplements along with medication to maximize the potential to maintain a healthy heart.
