Our first Dossier episode covered the 2017 homicide of David Josiah Lawson outside a college party in Arcata, California.  David Josiah Lawson was studying Criminology at Humboldt State University when he was killed. Lawson was the president of the Brothers United, a group that formed as a result of the unsolved murder of another black student at the college. A grand jury convened on the last day of February to decide if charges could be warranted in his death. This week, it’s been reported that grand jury declined to indict the man who police and prosecutors believe is responsible. To break this all down we’re joined by Jessa Nicholson-Goetz, who is a criminal defense attorney based in Madison, Wisconsin. She’s a founding partner in her law firm and half of the Getting Off podcast, which is highly recommended and religiously listened-to by both Heather and myself. Jessa and her law partner and podcast co-host appeared on the original DJ Lawson Dossier episode.
