Previous Episode: 10 Years Later

As the 5th anniversary of Stardust Drive's birth on the web arrives, how do I plan to celebrate? Short answer, I don't.

The short answer is…we’re not.

Today marks the 5th anniversary of Stardust Drive‘s debut on the interwebs.

Formerly known as GTA Gamers, the website started out as an outlet for news, reviews and features about video games, movies, comic books and television. The site was best known for the ‘Stardust Drive Podcast’, a four-man show hosted by myself, Carter Kee, Anthony Cusimano and Chris Kuzmin.

We pumped out 28 episodes over the span of four years…which in hindsight isn’t a lot. Most good podcasts these days can churn out a new episode weekly, bi-weekly or at the very least monthly. Originally, we were able to hold up to the latter, but scheduling conflicts as well as other priorities ended up getting in the way of our regular release schedule.

Mind you, we came to understand overtime that we were making content for our enjoyment first, followed by the general audience. So we loosened the reins a little and focused on our professional and personal lives ahead of everything that we were pushing out on Stardust Drive.

We’ve come a long way in five years. There was a lot of experimentation, a lot of memories and a lot of shows that I am very proud to have been able to produce. However for the first time in our five-year lifespan, we will not be celebrating our accomplishments with a five-year anniversary podcast.

Why? Truth be told, it would be foolish to kid ourselves and the audience into thinking the Stardust Drive Podcast and any content posted to our YouTube channel was being churned out on a regular basis.

Why encourage people to follow a channel that fails to provide regular content and can’t keep up with the competitors?

Frankly, I think we’ve outgrown our baby. I’m a much different person today than I was when I began GTA Gamers back in college.

Maybe it’s about time to move forward and focus on the future, rather than continue to drag a dead donkey through the dirt.

New plans for 2017

As we speak, the gears are slowly turning on a ‘new’ project. I can’t provide any more details right now other than it will hopefully be a way for Stardust Drive to ‘rise from the ashes’, shed its skin and move forward.

Will this be a complete rebranding? Or perhaps a new frontier for us?

All I can say is that I haven’t been this excited about a new project since the early days of Stardust Drive and the subsequent creation of the podcast.

I plan to provide more concrete details about this project when the time comes, but for now, I hope you will continue to stay engaged in my blog. While this project continues to grow, I don’t plan on slowing down my writing anytime soon.

I really believe that 2017 will be a year of growth and new beginnings.
