Hey Guys

I don't know if anyone reads the show notes or if I am just wasting my time as I type this but if you are the person who DOES read the show notes than I want to let you know how much I appreciate your dedication and curiosity and what you have won. My first car! because the show notes can take a bit of time to write, link and post.

Today's episode opens with me taping on an iphone headphone mic talking about how I fried my equipment to the point it froze up on me during a live panel that I was booked to moderate. SIGH

Luckily the audio is better for the interviews.

First starting at 4:49 I speak with Dr Jonathan Metzl of Vanderbilt University.     @jonathanmetzl He is a Professor of Sociology and Psychiatry, and the director of the Department of Medicine, Health, and Society, at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. He received his MD from the University of Missouri, MA in humanities/poetics and psychiatric internship/residency from Stanford University, and PhD in American culture from University of Michigan. Winner of the 2020 Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Book Award, the 2020 APA Benjamin Rush Award for Scholarship, and a 2008 Guggenheim fellowship, Dr. Metzl has written extensively for medical, psychiatric, and popular publications about some of the most urgent hot-button issues facing America and the world. His books include The Protest Psychosis, Prozac on the Couch, Against Health: How Health Became the New Morality. We spoke about his new book Dying of Whiteness: How the Politics of Racial Resentment is Killing America’s Heartland.

And every Friday I get to talk to comedian Christian Finnegan @christfinnegan
