S2: E2: An Unexpected Journey

On this week's episode of Spotty Translation, Zachary and Bryan dive into episode 2 of the hit puppet anime Thunderbolt Fantasy. Admittedly, not much happens, and Zachary is going to go insane over having to keep all these names straight.

Despite the episode not moving the plot forward much, Zachary and Bryan take this chance to talk about the hero's journey and specifically the works of J.R.R. Tolkien and the Chinese classic Journey to the West. The two narratives are competing examples on which basically every modern fantasy is based on, and it's interesting to see which works Thunderbolt Fantasy pulls from.
