The Philadelphia Sixers close out the Brooklyn Nets thanks to their defense. The fourth quarter defense was absurd and beautiful as they held the Nets to 16 points total while scoring 31 points of their own. Tobias Harris stole the show with an efficient day at the office. He shot 14-20 with 34 points and recorded 10 rebounds. Matisse Thybulle found himself in the starting lineup over Mike Scott which was a good move by Brett Brown. He had four blocks and two steals and sure knows how to energize this team. Furkan Korkmaz had a stretch in the fourth quarter of making two three-pointers and also got fouled from behind the arc. He ended up missing those free throws and getting his own rebound for a putback layup. Spencer Dinwiddie obviously had a great game because why wouldn't he against this Sixers team? He always does. Kyrie Irving struggled and was -29 on the night.
The Philadelphia Flyers beat the St. Louis Blues in overtime thanks to Jakub Voracek who finds the twine! What a gutsy performance by this team to go on the road and beat one of the best teams in hockey as they were on a big win streak in their own building. The Flyers had a 3-1 lead in the third period after Travis Konecny scored a powerplay goal once James Van Riemsdyk tipped a beautiful pass backdoor. From there though, the Blues turned it on as Ryan O'Reilly and Alexander Steen both scored to tie the game up.They had to a kill a 5 on 3 penalty kill with Michael Raffl and Kevin Hayes both in the box and a Too Many Men on the ice penalty in that third period which was not an easy task. The penalty kill was outstanding. Brian Elliott was in between the pipes and will continue to be since the news of Carter Hart's injury was released. He will be out for a few weeks. Ivan Provorov logged over 27 minutes and he was stellar. This team is playing fantastic hockey against great teams over the last four games they are 3-1. This is against the Capitals, Bruins, Lightning, and Blues.
