Genevieve M. Piturro took a big risk when she gave up the security of a successful job as the vice president of creative services for a television syndicate to launch the national nonprofit Pajama Program, which gives children cozy pajamas and inspiring storybooks , while providing critical sleep health education resources for parents, caregivers, and educators.

Genevieve was inspired to start the Pajama Program by a little girl she met when she volunteered in a New York City shelter. Noticing during her initial visits that the children were sleeping in their clothes, she bought enough pajamas—using her own money—for all the children in the shelter.

One little girl was afraid to take Piturro's gift and timidly whispered to her, "What are pajamas?"

It was at the moment, the most poignant that Genevieve ever experienced, that Pajama Program was born. “With that little girl, I found my true purpose," said Piturro. It was the defining moment that changed my life.” Using her life story as an example, Genevieve tells readers how they can find meaning in their lives, too, including:

Never doubt that the smallest acts can trigger big changes in all aspects of your life

·  Trust your inner voice, follow your gut and don’t let uncertainty hold you back

·  Keep asking the universe for help and you’ll find answers

·  Lead with compassion and you will inspire others to do the same

·  Meditation and gratitude contribute to a shift in mindset

·  Leadership is measured by how much you advance others

The most important lesson Piturro learned is to embrace the human connection, which has inexplicable power to make things happen. "It's not the Power of One that changes things, it's the Power of One-Another that moves mountains and moves people," she affirms.

If you ask the universe for help, and ask to have your life purpose revealed to you, you will be directed. After meditating for weeks, one day Genevieve heard the words ‘Pajama Program’ inside her head and her life’s purpose was revealed to her.

Your purpose can show up anywhere, anytime at any age. It can change your career, your work relationships, and your personal life.

There will be challenges, says Genevieve, and your life may take unexpected turns, but if you are on your true path, you’ll get through the rocky parts. And if you take action, you’ll find the courage to believe in yourself and in the unlimited power your purpose gives you. You don’t need to see the whole path before you, you just need to take the first step and trust that the next one will be revealed. When each of us connects to our purpose, the sky’s the limit.
