Welcome musician and physician, Michael Rocha to In-Focus Podcast Number 120. Michael grew up in New Bedford and graduated from New Bedford High School in 1993.

He performed in the school’s jazz band all four years. Dr. Rocha, a practicing cardiologist, started playing trombone in the 4th grade at the Jireh Swift elementary school. He played in several local bands, which at that time, were led by Eddie Rodrigues.

Mike played in concert bands, marching bands, and big bands. He attended UMass-Dartmouth and continued playing in small jazz ensembles, concert bands, and big bands. After relocating to the area in 2008 to practice cardiology, he says he was, “fortunate to play in the Southcoast Jazz Orchestra led by Bob Williamson and in 2017, the Southcoast Brass Band to share the sounds of New Orleans.”
