Saints were painfully close to taking all three points on Saturday at Goodison Park. After taking the lead through a well worked team goal finished off by Nathan Redmond at the back post, Saints took the 1-0 lead into stoppage time, though they were light a man after Yoshida was sent off for picking up a second yellow in the 85th minute.

Even after McCarthy made a spectacular save to deny Leighton Baines from a central free kick, John Moss let stoppage time enter the 6th minute of the 4 (no, that’s not an error), and, with the last kick of the match, Tom Davies’ effort from the top of the box took a deflection off of Wesley Hoedt and past an already committed McCarthy.

The draw pulled Saints out of the relegation zone and puts all the pressure and focus on Tuesday night’s clash with Swansea and the Liberty Stadium. Harry Holder (@nadaIesque on Twitter), admin for @TheSaintsReport, joined me to discuss the match and how the other results affect Saints standing in the table.

Harry is also on Instagram and I regularly use his photos from the match on my Instagram page, so please make sure to check him out @hholderphoto and @hholder16.
