Much-beloved Pagan’s Mind guitarist and songwriter Jørn Viggo Lofstad is on the cusp of releasing the first album of a new (and yet not so new) project with Floor Jansen of Nightwish. The band and album, both entitled Northward, will be released October 19th, 2018, on Nuclear Blast; but strangely enough, this new album, for which Jørn Viggo cites Alter Bridge, Foo Fighters, and even classic ’70s hard rock as influences, is somehow rather different yet somehow familiar to the two musicians’ main bands.

The band’s formative roots go all the way back to ProgPower 2007, and yet things didn’t really get rolling properly until this past year. Jørn Viggo, and Sonic Perspectives‘ own Austin Kokel, believe the album will be worth the wait for fans of the two musicians. Find out what took so long for the album to see the light of day in the interview below, and find out what the band’s next plans are, as well.
