Britain’s Shadowkeep lay more or less dormant for seven or eight years following 2008’s “The Hourglass Effect“, which itself was delayed due to line-up changes. They have now returned with a fourth album, simply self-titled, and with another change at the microphone. American power metal vocalist James Rivera (Helstar) becomes Shadowkeep‘s third vocalist, replacing Ritchie Wicks.

In the past, Shadowkeep were compared with the more progressive Queensrÿche or Crimson Glory. The comeback album goes more into the direction of classic 80’s US-Metal, because James Rivera and his remarkable voice is putting his stamp on the eleven fresh songs. If you love an abundance of harmonious riffage and killer solos, you’ll dig this album. Author and contributor Eric Woody had the opportunity to speak with guitarist Nikki Robson to discuss details about the new album among other things as well as some history about the band. You can listen to the full conversation in the video below.
