The newest hard rock super-group, Iconic from Frontiers Music SLR, features some legendary and iconic musicians like Michael Sweet (guitars), Joel Hoekstra (guitars), Marco Mendoza (bass), Tommy Aldridge (drums), and Nathan James (vocals). Their debut album, “Second Skin,” will be released June 17th.
The band’s collective resumes speak volumes for their talent, abilities, and musicianship. Michael Sweet is known for his work as guitarist/vocalist for Stryper. Joel Hoekstra is the guitarist from Whitesnake, Marco Mendoza‘s most recently known for The Dead Daisies and Journey, Tommy Aldridge of Whitesnake and Ozzy Osbourne‘s fame, Alessandro Del Vecchio, legendary writer and producer, and handling lead vocals Nathan James the front-man for Inglorious.
Having two of rock’s premier guitarists and songwriters, Michael and Joel, are the icing on the cake for this super-group. They have an undeniable friendship and chemistry that comes across loud and clear on “Second Skin” with their fretwork which complements the songs. Coupled with Nathan‘s hypnotizing and powerful voice, drives the songs home. “Second Skin” has tremendous diversity with in-your-face rock songs like “Nowhere to Run” and the title track “Second Skin,” to mid-tempo songs like “Enough of Your Love” and a few power ballads thrown in for good measure.
Correspondent Robert Cavuoto interviewed Joel about the formation of Iconic, the creation of the songs for “Second Skin,” the notion of a possible Iconic tour, and the status of the Whitesnake Farewell Tour.
