Beast mode, the wattage cottage, ripped my legs off! These are just some of the common phrases you will hear from anyone who has had to race Matt Beers on a bicycle!

Matt hasn't always been a cyclist. His initial love for two wheels came in the form of MotoCross and it was only through severe injury that Matt was forced to swing his leg off  of one bike and onto another.

Matt has had a short career in the sport of pro cycling. In that short space of time he has managed to become one of the countries most respected athletes. Not only that, but Matt has found his winning recipe. Now that he has had a taste, he is VERY hard to beat!

Having won almost every major stage race in South Africa, posting some incredible results on the world marathon stage, racing for the would tour team of UAE Emirates and winning the African Leader Jersey at the Cape Epic, one gets the feeling that Matt is just getting started.

For this episode, we start at the beginning of Matt's career and talk with him about his journey, learnings, injuries, recovery, processes and other interesting insights that he has picked up along the way. From racing MX in America to becoming one of South Africa's most respected competitors with global potential, we cover it all.

Since the recording of this podcast, the professional cycling team that Matt formed part of has sadly been closed down due to Covid-19. Through this, Matt is "back on the market". Matt would do any brand that he represents proud be it on or off the bike.

If you are interested in contacting Matt, send me an email directly - [email protected].

Enjoy!

Adios for now,
Doug
