Port Arthur
In the 18th and 19th Centuries, criminals were sent to Port Arthur, for punishment.they were forced to undertake a range of hard labor activities within the jail.many died during their incarceration and were burried on the Isle of the dead.they felled, transported and milled the timbers that they would use to extend the jail.some were trained and given trades, but most just worked hard and long hours.many of the buildings have survived two fires and are said to be haunted. this is one of the most historic tourist destinations in Australia and there are ghost tours hold regularly.
