The first sermon in the Family Matters series this past Sunday, we looked at what true biblical masculinity is for the man of God. We saw that while God created both men and women in his image in order to display his glory throughout creation, he designed them each uniquely different. Men are designed by God to be cultivators, growers, workers of what God has put before them. As we are connected to God, through a relationship with him, we are able to display his image throughout creation and work and keep the things he has put before us. In submission to Christ we are to live a life of sacrificial love towards our families and society in order that we might encourage, build up, and cultivate what God has called us to. True biblical masculinity is a man that is watchful, firm in his faith, strong in reliance on Christ, and does all that he does in love. While looking at the task at hand for what it means to be a man of God it is exhausting and impossible at times which is why the true man of God looks to Christ who has already achieved this for us. A true man of God displays the Gospel to all that around him as he loves sacrificially, asks for forgiveness when he messes up, and rests in the righteousness and grace of Jesus.
