On Thursday, April 22, Earth Day was marked around the world, as President Joe Biden tried to undo some of the damage to the role of the U.S. in stemming the environmental crisis. But is it too little and too late? How do the tensions between the United States and adversaries China and Russia bear out in efforts to tame environmental devastation? What about frontline communities in the Global North as well as the Global South? Can the climate crisis be halted without the Global North putting up money and resources to assist the Global South? Can the market economy and environmental justice exist simultaneously?

Also, the killings by police of Black people continue unabated. Now, in Florida, Texas and other states, they are putting forward a slew of laws that have the effect of criminalizing protests and protesters. This, as the George Floyd Act to address reform in policing stalls in the U.S. Senate. Also, voter suppression bills continue unabated.
