In this episode I’m joined by writer, photographer, & podcast host John Piccuto to discuss a different kind of loss; the loss of losing a job and the unique feelings of grief that come along with it. John lost his job fairly early on in the pandemic and although he considers it to be a failure, it may not be in the way you typically think of failure. John defines failure not as a let down but as a learning experience and a path to something far greater. When John lost his job he set out on the road and began photographing anything and everything. He also started The Wrong Advice Podcast, a show about real people having real conversations about life in an attempt to dive into the things that make us tick. Today, John’s life is nothing like what it was during the pandemic when he lost his job but in fact it’s become something even better than anticipated.

John and I discuss his path to photography and podcasting, the raw emotions of losing his job in the pandemic, the fallacies of social media, how his vision of himself as an entrepreneur has evolved over time, the definition of success and why it’s always changing, tackling creative pursuits, internet friends, and the many things he’s come to learn over the last 18 months.
