Dorothy Maquabeak Francis’ granddaughter, Wendy Bonazew, shares stories with us on the anniversary of her passing in 1990. Dorothy Francis was a singer, dancer, storyteller and educator from the Salteau First Nation. She founded the first Aboriginal Friendship Centre, was the recipient of the order of Canada and elected chair of the National Arts and Crafts Advisory Committee for Canada. Dorothy Francis was also a member of the Baha'i Faith. Her work was exhibited in the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto and hosted a weekly Native cultural program on Canada’s national radio network.
