Have you ever heard the term "get off the fence?" Do you recall the picture that was evoked in your mind when you first heard this term?

My thoughts went to a nursery rhyme that I grew up hearing about - Humpty Dumpty.

Humpty Dumpty was an Egg with hands, eyes, mouth, and legs. He was sitting on a wall and fell. He became a broken egg. There's more to the story but that's the picture that came to my mind when I heard the term "get off the fence."

However in this context, it is used of someone who have been contemplating making a career change decision and have been doing so for quite some time ... in essence, sitting on the fence.

Each year that goes by is one more year of indecision

Here are four reasons you are still sitting on the fence:

TMI: Too much information - information overload Feelings of overwhelm Feeling paralyzed Fear fear of failure fear of being found out: imposter syndrome

Here are 3 Critical Keys To Getting Off The Career Change Fence.

1. Know where you want to land 2. Know what to do after you land 3. Know who to help you with your new experiences
