For most of us, our experience of FBI agents comes only through box sets and movies, and we have no idea what life is really like on the inside of one of the world's most famous government agencies.

One person who does is Jerri Williams, who served for 26 years as a special agent in the in the FBI. During most of her Bureau career Jerri worked on major economic fraud investigations, but also worked robbery and drugs cases during her career. At the time she joined the FBI, there were few women at the organisation, and even fewer women of colour. We discuss the ups and downs of a career in the investigative services, her second career as an author and podcaster, and the clichés and misconceptions about the FBI propagated in film and television!
