Welcome back to Small Talks (at midnight).
This time I went to Milan. There I met Alessandro, Italian with Dutch origins, director, writer, cinematographer. This episode will be in 2 parts.
The first part is a lighthearted conversation during breakfast.
Alessandro Soetje started as a photographer and when the opportunity came he decided to follow his instinct for adventure.
The experience in Burkina Faso is his own ‘shadow line’. He describes how that experience signed his life, his personal and professional novel, for the coming years.
In this episode literally no running order: we talked about coffee, of course, sense of belonging, shooting anecdotes, eating noodles. young Alessandro’s idols and his love for cinema, where he always felt at home.
‘Once you stop learning, you stop living’ is his strong message.Do you think I missed the opportunity to ask about my dream of becoming director? Sure not! Just wait for part 2! :)

Would you like to know more about Alessandro’s work?
