This weeks Slurred Words six pack of the week is sponsored by our friends over at 9 & Hilton market at the corner of 9 mile Rd and Hilton rd in ferndale, MI. This weeks selection is New Holland Brewery's Monkey King. Monkey King is a soft, medium body saison with subtle pepper character and fruity undertones. Coming it at 5.6% ABV and 23 IBUs this Farmhouse Ale is has a nice crisp taste and will pair well with shellfish, spiced cheeses and citrus-laden vinaigrettes.

Thanksgiving is right around the corner. And some of you may have forgot to buy your turkey, to be honest I haven't bought mine yet. I did pick up the second most important Thanksgiving Day treat, a six pack of delicious craft beer from 9 & Hilton Market.

This weeks guest is Brewer John from Blue Moon Brewing company.
John has helped create and brew many of Blue Moon’s innovative Seasonal and Specialty beers; these beers continue to entice our fans with unexpected flavor twists. You will actually hear the surprise in my voice when he tells me they have 24 different beers on tap. Brewing has always been a creative outlet for John, who got his start in the business making home-brewed beer in Fort Collins, about an hour north of Denver. After making an impression on the noted craft beer scene there, John worked his way up, honing his skills at smaller breweries, until finally getting the call to bring his talents to the newly formed Sandlot Brewing Company in 1995 and then Blue Moon Brewing Company® around 2006.

This interview was done on the floor of the Great American Beer Festival after more then a few beer samples. I hope you enjoy this candid conversation I had with John.
