Welcome back to Slow Your Scroll with Krystal Faircloth. Today, we’re talking with Juli Bauer Roth from PaleOMG, who’s sharing insights from her journey as a food blogger. Since starting PaleOMG in 2011, she’s done everything from authoring cookbooks to podcasting to launching her very own at-home fitness program.

Juli talks about how her early days as a blogger included a lot of exploration, and lots of time figuring out what health and lifestyle habits worked for her. She also struggled a lot with self image. Fortunately, these early days also included a lot of positive feedback, and opportunities to connect with people who had experienced similar challenges. That being said, there was still plenty of negativity to deal with. Krystal and Juli both discuss their own struggles with sharing personal content, and fielding the inevitable backlash that comes with a public identity. While you can never please everyone, Juli tries to keep a positive outlook, understanding that that’s what keeps life interesting.

Krystal takes this opportunity to ask Juli if she has some strategies for staying healthy and balanced over the holidays. Julie’s feedback is primarily to go easy on yourself. Enjoy the parties and understand that it’s okay for your weight to fluctuate a bit. Maintaining a routine as much as possible and keeping up with your regular workouts will help you balance out the indulgence.

After discussing the publishing and book tour experience, Juli tells us more about a new venture she’s excited to launch: her Power Program, designed to guide viewers through easy, short workouts you can do at home. Last of all, Juli shares some of her favorite holiday recipes, and reveals the secret of her secret ingredient cupcakes.
