On February 7th, 1985 a Drug Enforcement Officer named Enrique “Kiki” Camarena was kidnapped, beaten, tortured, burned, and eventually murdered in a house near the U.S. Consulate in Guadalajara, Mexico by men who worked for one of the most powerful cartels in Mexico. Two men were later convicted of murdering Enrique, but the forensic evidence witness lied about the evidence and the case was tossed a few years ago. The justice department has since obtained statements that implicate a U.S. CIA operative and DEA official in the plot to torture and murder Enrique.
