According to multiple insiders (Dreger, Johnston, Friedman), the Golden Knights have acquired defenseman Noah Hanifin from the Calgary Flames. The Golden Knights gave up a 1st round pick, a conditional 3rd round pick, a 5th round pick and Daniil Miromanov. The 3rd round pick becomes a 2nd if the Golden Knights win one playoff round.

Hanifin’s contract is expiring at the end of the season with a $4.95 million cap hit. Calgary is retaining half of Hanifin’s salary and Philadelphia is retaining half of that half, which means VGK are on the hook for 25%, or $1.2375 million.

There are conflicting reports about an extension coming with the trade.
