In 1941, Dashiell Hammet's novel, The Maltese Falcon, received its most famous big screen adaptation that many view as the first film noir and consider to be one of the greatest films of all time. Humphrey Bogart leads an all-star cast in an epic detective story that would garner three Academy Award nominations including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Adapted Screenplay. With slick writing, engaging performances, and a twisting plot there's no wonder The Maltese Falcon was a major hit and remains a beloved classic to this day. Corbin and Allen are excited to kick-off their Humphrey Bogart Retrospective series with their review of The Maltese Falcon.
